Affordable Housing

This is the recent dedication of a DHIC affordable housing development in Raleigh. Funding sources included Raleigh, federal government and private non-profits.




With good design, traditional mixed income neighborhoods provide housing for a variety of family sizes, ages, and incomes.


'Workforce' housing for Raleigh's police, fire and other employees will be a growing priority as affordable housing opportunities in the city continue to decline.



Streetcar districts like the Pearl District in Portland create the opportunity affordable housing in vertically mixed use developments, where getting around without cars is easy and inexpensive.



With careful design and regulatory controls, Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) or "Granny Flats" provide affordable housing plus mortgage income for the homeowner.
